Called the most indispensable man in the Allied Expeditionary Forces by Gen. Pershing, Conner's legacy is largely one of a great mentor. He retired in 1938 yet was extremely influential in World War II through his valuable mentorship of Generals Marshall, Patton, and Eisenhower.
