Julius W. Becton, Jr.

Lt. Gen., U.S. Army

Becton commissioned through Officer Candidate School a year after enlisting. His leadership at the Battle of Pusan Perimeter earned him the Silver Star when he decisively led his platoon in a charge carrying them far beyond the rest of the battalion. Although wounded, he held his position until nightfall covered their return and ensured their success.  He later had a long career in public service to include serving as director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and president of Prairie View A&M University.
