Adna Romanza Chaffee, Jr.

Chaffee was recognized as the “Army’s finest horseman”  in 1906. After WWI, he helped develop armor concepts and doctrine of the future. He predicted that mechanized armies would dominate the next war and assisted in the first program to develop a U.S. armored force. He spent more than a decade developing, experimenting, and securing suitable equipment for the armored force.
