Bruce Anderson

Pvt., U.S. Army

Anderson was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions during this Civil War Battle of Fort Fisher in 1865. Displaying great valor, he advanced with the head of the column with 15 other men. Running head of his unit under heavy fire, carrying only an ax,  he hacked a hole in the fort's thick pine fence and allow his comrades to enter. His actions enabled them to take the hill and eventually capture the fort. Anderson was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions during this Civil War Battle of Fort Fisher in 1865 .
