Robert A. Pinn
1st Sgt., U.S. Army
As First Sergeant in the 127th Ohio volunteer Infantry, Pinn took command of his unit during the Battle of Chaffin’s Farm when the commanders were down. Despite multiple wounds, he persevered to ensure his comrades were able to continue in the battle. After the war, Pinn went on to serve as a high school principal and then was admitted to the Ohio bar in 1879. This Medal of Honor recipient’s legacy lives on as the namesake of an armory, shotting range, and Fort A.P. Hill.
